Getting Development From Development Expenditure
On August 25, 2021 CDF and the Accountability Initiative at the Centre for Policy Research hosted a day-long conference entitled From Outlays to Outcomes: Accountability in Social Sector Expenditure in India. This conference facilitated a dialogue on mechanisms to strengthen transparency and accountability in the implementation of centrally sponsored social sector programs.
The conference provided a forum for key stakeholders – policy makers, practitioners, civil society and academics – to exchange ideas, draw lessons from experience and indentify solutions to what is perhaps the greatest challenge faced by the government: ensuring accountability for money spent.
Papers from the conference are found here. The focus areas of the conference continue as an ongoing research agenda for CDF.
